Bay of Villefranche: how the pick-up works
The bay of Villefranche is one of the deepest anchorages in the Mediterranean, which lets large cruise ships lie offshore. Passengers therefore do not come alongside: they arrive by tender at the Darse or the Port de la Santé, in waves of several hundred, with a non-negotiable time to be back aboard. That constraint shapes everything: a call transfer or excursion is built backwards from that limit, with a safety margin. The most requested destinations are Monaco twenty-five minutes away, Èze a quarter of an hour, Saint-Paul-de-Vence forty minutes and Nice a quarter of an hour. On busy call days the quays and the Basse Corniche are congested, and the meeting point must be fixed in advance.
